We’re gearing up to put together the 2011 Michiana Down Syndrome Calendar, and as always, the more the merrier!
Due to the massive demand, and the fact that we only have 12 months in a year, we can only guarantee calendar-page space for 48 pictures. These spaces will most likely be filled by the first 48 pictures submitted that meet the guidelines. Of course, there’s always the cover, back cover, and non-calendar pages, so we can guarantee that as long as their picture meets the guidelines, every individual will be included somewhere in the calendar. In order to give people time to get some good summer pictures, we’ve bumped the deadline for all pictures to July 10th; But if you already have the picture you’d like used, early submissions will be greatly appreciated.
Please read the guidelines carefully, if they aren’t met, it’s much more difficult to use the picture.
Guidelines:
Must live in the DSFSAG service area: St. Joseph, Marshall, LaPorte, Starke and Elkhart counties in Indiana and Cass, St. Joseph and Berrien counties in Michigan
If you want your child on a particular month, (for example, their birth month,) please specify the month, and make sure the picture is season-appropriate. Remember that the calendar-page slots will fill up quickly, so if you want a calendar-page slot, the sooner you submit your picture, the better your chances.
While you are more than welcome to send in more than one picture, please specify which one you would most like to see showcased.
(We’re asking all pictures be full-color only, to allow for easier placement.)
Digital pictures:
The larger the better: These pictures have to be very high quality in order to come out nicely at 300 dots per inch, (dpi) the standard quality for commercial printing. So if they’re small or fuzzy there’s really not a whole lot we can do to make them look good at 300dpi. Pictures from camera phones will almost never be useable at 300dpi, but pictures from regular digital cameras almost always will. Please identify the individuals in the picture(s) by name, so we can credit them properly within the calendar.
Film pictures:
Film pictures are fine, as they can easily be scanned in at 300dpi. If you have film pictures you’d like to submit, but can’t scan them in yourself, get them to us along with the names of the individuals in the pictures and we’ll be happy to scan them in and return them to you after the calendar is printed. Please remember that in order to achieve a quality scan at 300dpi, the picture does need to be on actual picture paper, and not printed out on letter paper. As a rule, anything you had developed/printed professionally will be fine.
